A few words about the Hellenic Informatics Union

The Hellenic Informatics Union is the professional and scientific association of the Greek Informatics. Namely Computer Scientists, Computers Engineers and Informatics Professionals that hold a University Degree.

Formed in 2001, the Hellenic Informatics Union aims at materializing the vision for the development of Information & Communication Technology in Greece.

Working actively to the benefit of its members, of the economy and the society as a whole as is mentioned in their mission statement, the Union takes various initiatives towards this direction.

As mentioned, the keynote speaker is Christos Papadimitriou. One of world’s leading computer science theorists with over four decades research experience; and a long list of honors and awards. C. Papadimitriou currently the Donovan Family Professor of Computer Science at the Columbia University will enlighten panel discussion sharing his perspective.

Pericles Nicolaos Ghikas (Peri Ghika) was born and raised in an agricultural family at the village of Kriekouki, in rural Attica, Greece. He later moved with his family to Keratsini, where he finished his secondary education. In 1997 he was admitted to the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete.
