Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote can be used to best describe the outcome of Startup Weekend Athens which took place in Athens (15th7th February), with StartTech Ventures proudly supporting and sponsoring the event.

Great event, great people, great organizers, mentors and judges they provided everything participants needed in order to focus on their projects and thus, come up with some really wonderful ideas.

Seize the day with sustainability

16 teams made it to the final presentations and made everyone realize that the entrepreneurial spirit among the young people in Greece can be a serious asset for the country’s regrowth.

The 3 winning teams FR8, Zombies and Robots, Μatetti, were selected by judges because their projects were not only just innovative but also because they were based on business models that seem to have a sustainable perspective and serious competitive advantages!

All teams did not just act…they managed to ReAct!

Most teams that did not make it to the Top 3 also shared a strong potential. For example, ReAct Project refers to politically active citizens who enjoy communicating their ideas straight to politicians. Other projects like Pinobo, SpeekAp, Broke-down, Herbs, mywhiils, SurfUp, Organery, Lostchecker, Commito, Foodle, SportPointMe, Helping Hands proved that people in this country are now highly motivated to think, create, suggest and implement important business projects.

With events like this, the startup community will continue growing in Greece, and year by year it will gain more and more maturity. The future belongs to those who dare! Keep on rocking guys!
