With euro-scepticism on a rise, there’s finally a positive EU initiative to look forward to, especially for those of us in the tech and entrepreneurial communities.

We’re talking about the European Business Angels Week (EBAW, for short), an initiative to promote angel and early stage investment awareness, which has just been kickstarted today, November 18th, and is scheduled to run until Sunday.

EBAW is the result of a major cross-European collaboration, with 34 participating countries organising 138 events, with the support, of among others, YES (Young Entrepreneurs for Europe) and the Hellenic Start-up Association. It has been recognised by the European Commission as a very important initiative for the promotion of growth in Europe, with Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, issuing a statement of support to the initiative, concluding that “Business Angels are an essential element of the creativity, innovation and solidarity within our overall growth and jobs strategy”.

StartTech Ventures, the sole Greek member of the European Business Angel Network (EBAN), is planning two EBAW events in Athens, to take place on December 5 and 6 respectively, with the participation of very experienced international serial angels who will be sharing their experience and best practices with the Greek startup community.

We’ll be announcing more details about the two events soon, so stay tuned. Meanwhile you can find more information about the this week’s EBAW events, here.
